I'm 174cm and the midget of the family. Even my sister is almost as tall as me. I have a cousin who's 2m tall. Family photos are slightly embarrassing because of it.

Our indigenous population is diverse, with the Italian speakers coming in shortest (although Ticinese are fractionally taller and paler on average than Italian Italians), and we’ve got plenty of imports from various short countries in Europe and beyond (tons of Portuguese, who are pretty small), but the male average is 178cm. So I suppose anything under that could be considered short.

I’m short. Not a midget and not the smallest man I know, but noticeably a little under the national average. I made peace with it many years ago, and it never actually did me any real harm (my wife is shorter than me, as were all but one of the women I dated growing up—when I was eighteen I briefly went out with a girl who was exactly my height and wore the same size shoe), but I am nevertheless pleased that at least one of my sons is on track to be a lot taller than me. The other one may surpass me as well, but he’s built a lot like I am, so only time will tell for sure.

Average is 178cm but that's with boomers. Zoomers here are on average 190cm so anything below 185cm is short. I am 172cm so basically a miget

I think Americans or in some cases Europeans are capping about their height. I felt reasonably tall in America with 181cm barefoot and above average in France and Northern Italy.


With how Americans exaggerate numbers about everything, Koreans are already taller than them, I think.

There is real short and meme short. I’d argue anything 5’7 and below is short, and 5’8 and above is average and tall. Larpers will say things like “5’9-5’11 is short” but they are just full of shit.
