Compared to 10 years ago, GDP has decreased by 20%, rice is too expensive to buy, women are street prostitutes and spread syphilis. In addition, the birth rate is still low, and the population is decreasing by 800,000 to 1 million people a year. Everything is in place. Now, if the Nankai Earthquake happens, Japan is truly finished.
One of my family members married a Japanese woman and lives in Japan. They came to my Korean house on the 18th and bought 150,000 won worth of rice and went back.
They say that even if they do the opening run at the time the mart opens, there are times when they have to wait for almost 2 hours
Did you guys know that Japan had all 4 seasons? Isn't that interesting?

I don't get this rice shit. It's all over the news "oh my god there is no rice" and when I go in any fucking supermarket they are full of rice. Also a really fucking nice thing about having a variety of foods is that you can switch between them if a shortage ever happens. Is everyone retarded here?

>>212068277 (OP) Rice produced in Japan is sold for less than $20 for 5 kg when you go to the US and Taiwan, while in Japan it costs more than $40 for some reason Rice logistics companies and the Japanese government are making a killing I would not force myself to buy rice Even if I did buy rice, I could now choose cheap US or Korean Vietnamese rice.
>>212069870 it is because the government tries to support local produce of rice to the point they basically have mechanism to always stabilize it to 100% sadly, Japanese agricultural practices are rather inefficient today and they cannot compete with imported food at all. While its usual that local produce costs a bit more, consumers are more likely to spend more if it means its locally produced, but in Japan it seems like its way past that point
