Serious question, why is India's gdp per capita lower than Cambodia and Angola? Didn't India liberalize its economy in 1991?

Extremely high population and incredibly nepotistic culture.
As a friend of mine who lived there put it.

Real answer: Larger countries are fucking hard to tard wangle. It's the reason why China is also quite poor relative to their work ethic, industrial sector and technology level. Just look at the EU, they can't agree on anything and changes are slow and they are generally inefficient on EU, when the individual countries are doing fine . China and India are so large that they're basically like a dozen countries, all with different cultures, ethnicity, religion , language that make developing the entire country as a whole so hard. America gets away with it because the entire country is quite homogeneous, speaking the same langue and the same religion and they don't have that many people.

If India/China was like 300 million people each, they would be a dozen times more developed.
