It's because we lack a true single market with a federal government that throws subsidies at everything that moves in the tech sector like they have in the US. Until Europe federalizes and cuts all the bureaucracy created to appease national governments it will not succeed.

median blue collar wages are lower in the US than in germany in spite of germany's lower cost of living. Every time I walk to the grocery store I see tons homeless people sleeping in their trucks in the parking lot. The girl at the register's skin is constantly bright red and peeling because she's stuck homeless outside in the middle of the florida summer. Almost everyone with a blue collar job is struggling to pay rent.

But hey, at least our corporate overlords are doing good

EU don't scale but you'll find a ton medium sized companies that work as contractors and manufacturers of components for American megacorps.
For example many German companies in "Silicon Saxony" supply microelectronic components to Intel
Huawei and Cisco rely on Finnish companies for 5G R&D
Or you can visit a factory and check how many industrial robots are from the EU

It is always balkanoid diaspora that feels inferiority complex and seethes at Europe instead of quietly accepting the differences between the two continents. America is much much richer and Europeans lack the ambition (just see this thread) and got addicted to making excuses a bit too much. The people who want to make it will continue to emigrate there. No, I use an M1 laptop. It's not very good. The chip is made by TSMC btw. Apple cannot build that shit themselves because they are a design and fashion company. Not a tech company.

>Chickshit with shitty display
Still the best laptop. Your stupid racism doesn't change that.

ASML has a lot of their own tech but is more important as a technology integrator and manufacturing platform provider. They only own some of the tech inside their machines. They ship different versions of their machines to TSMC, Samsung, and Intel, because all three ship their own patented tech and techs provided by their suppliers just for them to ASML to have ASML integrate them into custom machines just for them.

A lot of Euros seem to be mistaken that because ASML is Dutch and a critical supplier of lithography machines, they have massive leverage against TSMC, Samsung, Intel, etc. and they can just throw some money and can whip up a TSMC competitor in Europe, but it doesn't work like that.

Gas-Pipelines mostly only run from North Africa to Iberia. I remember hearing something about France wanting to build a pipeline across Spain to get access too, but idk if anything came off of that. You could also build a ton of gas plants in Spain and generate all the electricity there, but then you'd have other problems with transporting all that to the rest of Europe + The cooperation is yet to be there like in single countries like you guys or China.
>Russia
PR issues + they're the most immediate threat at the moment, and directly funding their government by buying their gas would he stupid. The EU is not perfect. I agree that mass immigration is bad. I also think that Europe should ban all US tech companies like China have done. The US has done a lot of damage to Europe. Like buying DeepMind for example. Europe needs to understand that the EU is an adversary. Lowering taxes etc. is also good. Most of those companies are created by European immigrants, Indians, or Chinese because most Americans don't have the needed educational background.

I know. The problem is that AWS is the default and managers love to go with defaults because it's much less risky.

"Why did you do X? This is a mess!"

"Because everyone else did!"

"Ok then well if everyone else did it...."

I have seen this many times. Now they have lock-in. Just look at S3: very cheap to store things but very expensive to take it out. EU regulations should ban this btw. But it's best to simply not use any of these cloud services in the first place. They are overly complicated so that they can hide the costs and make it hard to get out. You're better off buying your own servers and colocate them and set up your own infra using OSS. But that's not the default since about a decade now so it's not safe and thus non-technical managers won't do it.

2. The successful startups that do come around often get bought up by Americans.
3. It's much harder to scale here than elsewhere. In America you have 300m potential customers who speak the same language and live in the same country with the same laws. In Europe the largest you'll find is 80m German speakers here before you either have to deal with different languages, or live in different countries with different laws.

we would but our economies are all fucked

just one case of how fucked up our social system, employment and taxes are in Germany in particular:

to match the lifetime income of an 80 year old say teacher (or any other lower govt employee) who's paid at A12/13
you'd need to be in the top 5 percent of private earners and start saving young since govt employees don't pay social security tax, pay lower tax and get so many gibs from the govt for having children as govt employees.
you need to earn almost double the income of a fucking teacher which you can do only as a highly educated and skilled specialist, expert in your field.
that doesn't even account for the fact that a teacher in Bumfucknowhere, BW earns the same as a teacher in Hypercapitalist Dystopian Warzone, Berlin.

and another punch in the face. you won't be able to afford a house close to the city period as a private employee who's not in the to 1%. a house where you can work a job allowing you to live in the 1%? no chance rentoid.

and I don't get it. the govt pays for everything, no one owns anything. some people own a lot. and the rest is just mismanaged and no idea where that money goes. it's not even that the rich get that much richer or that new rich people are created. it's just a drain.

it's because the US has enforced a worldwide order with their guns and financial markets that just lets them print free money and export the inflation worldwide, this free money can then fund a bunch of useless dogshit companies that play by absolutely unfair rules, invent some retarded app service that lets users get a fourth job and leech from their labor, and just keep on not making any profits for 10 years until you've destroyed the previous infrastructure and now rule the market at which point you immediately turn everything into pure liquid shit and squeeze your userbase who now no longer have a choice
thankfully since the american world order is collapsing alongside their rusting military, subhuman capital, ailing bond market and cultural soft power the great satan will soon no longer be able to destroy modern existence with their faggot "startup" schemes and mankind will be better off

Chine exported $525.65B last year to the US alone, that's not something that can be accounted for by just moving to other markets
Also I would imagine that if war breaks out and china tries to take Taiwan for example, Japan and some other countries would also close their markets to the Chinese, which would make the hit on their economy even harder.
