Estonians and Finns hate us despite our ethnonym meaning brothers in their languages

Estonian name for Russia is Venemaa, Finnish name is Venäjä. There's a theory that both these words come from the word «vend» that means «brother» in Estonian and Finnish and that they come from the PIE word *wenh that meant «a loved one»

if you just stayed inside your own borders we would have no problems being friends.

Same, I learned Finnish for a few months a few years ago. Had to stop because of a stupid reason but I really like the language, it's beautiful. Still listen to Finnish bands like Paavoharju, Harmaa Getto, Absoluuttinen Nollapiste, Alamaailman Vasarat, Kalevala and so on
