Depends on the country. Countries that are closer to Britain tend to teach British English, ones that are closer to the US tend to teach American English.

We know, same with Portugal Portuguese and Spain Spanish. Even though at this point individual cities United States, Mexico and Brazil are probably hold influence as the whole of Portgual, Spain and the UK.

we don't though. most euros have idiosyncratic accents that don't line up with any native speaking population even if all the phonemes are present in one dialect or another. it's a result of picking up the language from people speaking a mix of dialects.
