I think what's more baffling is that there are (at least online) retards shilling for that country and pretending it's a worker's paradise and that the millions who emigrated on makeshift rafts were actually slave owners or something.
Also Cuba creates the commie paradox: free trade is colonialist oppression and communism creates self-reliance, but also Cuba must trade with capitalist states and beg for sanction relief because they have shortages of everything from electricity and medicine to plastic straws.
