Nah, South London has become super gentrified these days. Still some dodgy parts, but places like Brixton, Tooting and Clapham are nowhere near as bad as they used to be in the 90's. Croydon is still a dump though. Avoid it if you can. Generally speaking, North London is now the 'bad' part of the city, which is completely reversal of how it was 30 years ago.
