Younger/whiter/working class americans are very taciturn, introverted, reserved, even more so than europeans. 90% of the people I know irl are like this. The super extroverted/making conversation with randos culture is rapidly dying out. I lived in Germany for 2 years and, opposite of stereotypes, I was the one who was overly reserved while the Germans I met were comparatively gregarious and were the ones initiating conversation with me.
