>>212230227 (OP) not that good of a test because third worlders by definition were late entries into modern culture, that includes cartoons too. I don't think we have any iconic cartoons since the time where TVs were introduced to the masses in full japanese cartoons were already well established and so nothing local was ever really developed that well.
>>212230227 (OP) white people do be soulless if they do not be knowing Doraemon >>212230302 I'm a millennial and I watched it when I was a kid, considering here they aired it for the first time in 1982 the time excuse doesn't make much sense
My favorite Doraemon movie is Animal Planet Worst is the Journey to the West one Honorable mention: Tin Labyrinth

>>212230538 you don't understand how poor we are anon, Televisions were made available to the common populace around the 2000's and doraemon aired during 2005. After that we grew but by then other countried already had a strong media sphere.
>>212230676 I meant firsties not knowing cause they aired it late as an excuse for the not knowing him since here they aired it in the 80s, but I just checked and in the US they aired it for the first time in 2014, that's mental. It's the firsties evidently who were too poor to buy the rights to it
>>212230949 oh no i was more talking about how we don't have anything like doraemon locally. And on the point of firsties not knowing it, why should they? They already had something or the other which was more local and widespread so no need to import entertainment from halfway across the globe.

>>212230302 Wat? We had anime on tv here since the 70s. We SEA peoples were anime/toku/jap drama fans long before it became popular in the West, so much so that we DON'T differentiate anime with Western animation. To us, they're just cartoons. Dubbed versions of anime even became popular as their own thing and widely parodied. I remember mimicking Nobita's Malay language VA's voice back in the 90s.
