I don't like those brothy disgusting brown beans in my country. Because of that some people think I'm childish or not man enough to eat real food.
My preference for arroz refogado instead of this plain white rice that has no taste is also considered fussy but unlike disgusting beans I do accept plain rice when eating out. Just put some vinagrete on top and it's fine.
My only exception for beans is cowpeas, used in the arrumadinho recipe. They are nothing like the disgusting smelly distasteful brown beans.

This is what arroz refogado looks like. It's parboiled rice (indica type) prepared on a pre-heated base of oil, onions, garlic, carrot, and some other condiments if you prefer.
This is what vinagrete is. Just diced bell pepper, onions and tomato, all on vinegar.
This is what arrumadinho is. It's a regional recipe. A bowl with cowpeas seasoned with garlic and onion together with copped pieces of dry meat with olive oil, vinegar, sometimes celantro, and cassava flour
