they are pests. they kill all the trees alongside the river, they erode river banks and they will dam up every single small spring in the vicinity causing floods and keeping the municipalities busy. hunters dont shoot them because they are protected. at first its funny and cute but when you go walking alongside the danube and every second tree is dying because some beaver gnawed on it, its not funny anymore. its ridiculous.

>urbanism
im not talking about cities or towns here. beavers are a problem in rural areas, especially where there is still naturally running rivers and springs.

a lot of money was spent on flood dams and flood drainage channels and areas so that the catastrophic floods of 2002 and 2013 dont happen again and now hordes of beavers dig tunnels into the flood dams and erode them. when they next flood comes these eroded dams will collapse and flood us. letting beavers run rampant is one of these really idiotic green policies that will lead to no good.

>>212270336
cat fish are no threat to beavers. they mostly live in smaller bodies of water that cant support catfish. nothing is a threat to beavers, they have no natural enemy. they mostly die by fighting each other over territory.

Making them stop temporarily is usually as simple as sternly saying "Hey you fucking dickhead, stop chewing my trees." Long term usually involves a gun or explosives - enough loud noises and they stop showing up. Sometimes destroying or relocating a dam or two might be necessary.

They are supposed to frequently stop nibbling and listen for the wood cracking so they can get away before the tree falls. You can see the first guy do that. The dummy in the second clip seems to live in a zoo. Maybe his momma never taught him.

If you go hike to any of the isolated lakes here, you actually have a chance of seeing a beaver corpse crushed by a tree. I saw 2 dead beavers when I did the Alexander Mackenzie Trail.
