I first got a taste for anglo internet around the announcement of Fallout 4. I was looking for info and stumbled upon a reddit thread with all the latest rumors, I kept scrolling and saw they were doing a giveaway, I decided to sign up and participate and I won a copy of Fallout 3, and that was the first time I ever owned a legally acquired game.
These things don't happen in thirdie internet.

The quality of content on this side of the internet is simply superior, and once you realize much of the content in your own language is just rehashed English content then it's over.
Also, the combination of a lingua franca (English in this case, although any other would do) and the internet is such a revolutionary thing, if this had happened in the '60s the Soviet Union would've won the Cold War.

I started from the Russian-speaking segment of the internet and slowly moved to the English-speaking parts of it, I was always an outsider in the web, since the very beginning
I tried connecting with other armenoids through facebook a couple of times but they're all turbonormies, posting either about politics or their boring routine lives

As an amerifat expat trying to get into Argentinian internet content to improve my Spanish, I'm learning the truth of this every day. The Argentinian part of the internet has a great sense of humor (sarcastic, self-deprecating, ironic, absurd), but it doesn't have the breadth of content the American/English internet has. I don't know if I'll ever be able to fully make the transition.

it was the year 2012, i was a member of a site called taringa which was basically like the latin reddit but with piracy, racism and kiwi farms vibes, it was quite fun
and sometimes you could find very interesting and informative posts
although we spent most of the time throwing shit at each other(especially to peruvians and bolivans kek), sometimes we organized ourselves to shit on other sites, once they organized a raid on 4chan and that's how i discovered it
at first i just wanted to practice my english, but then it became an addiction, also back then 4chan wasn't as bad as it is now and plus taringa became pretty shit due to the staff bad decision, like trying to becoming a weird combination of twitter, reddit and facebook
