I know East Europeans are stereotyped as dumb, violent, poor drunks but the lazy part is weird. I heard it about the Balkans.

The deportations happened between the start of the German occupation and the capturing of Horthy's son half a year later which forced his hand to resign
Horthy stopped the deportations before that tho because he realized he might end up getting tried for crimes against humanity after the war
His explanation was that he didn't know what the germans were doing to the jews and once he learned it he immediately stopped it
