Idk how it works in other countries but for Serbia this is very misleading because when you make an account it asks you to follow certain topics before proceeding and it offers you subreddits based on what's popular in your country. r/serbia gets reccommended so people make an account, follow r/serbia, browse it for a few minutes snd then never use Reddit again. The actual number of people posting on that subreddit is just a couple of thousand. I think Reddit is only really mainstream in like English speaking countries and Nordic countries
