that nice and all but they're looking into charging people for putting power on the grid.

They also made people change their old elec counter to new ones that cant reverse when you put power on the grid.

The only reason i now see solar on my house as a benefit would be in summer for AC. but a solar and AC installation would be 15k. Not worth its for those few days of heat.

Climate control setups in the Midwest tend to be over-engineered. During a polar vortex event when it got to -24F for 3 nights in a row, my heating ran at about 50% capacity. For the AC moreso: 25% to keep it at 74 when it's 96 outside. It could be 120 fucking degrees outside, and I could keep it down to 65 indoors.

I don't have an AC. It's electricity prices that rise when people use a lot of electricity (such as everyone turning their AC on at the same time). This is pretty basic supply and demand stuff it's not groundbreaking theory.

because it's overloading the grid, so the electricity you generate is completely worthless when everyone dumps their solar power on the grid and risks frying it
the irony of solar is that you get the most out of it when you don't need it

Anonymous Belgium No.212318665

yeah but it becomes problematic when you hand out subsidies for panels like candy and half the country starts dumping their useless electricity on the grid but expect reliable power during cold winter nights. that's why i'm not entirely convinced about renewables, it's just too unreliable and we still don't have effective ways to store energy that justifies a complete switch to "green energy". look at germany, their CO2 emissions only increased after they closed their nuclear plants and heavily invested in green energy

They're even more pricey than they would have been due to sanctions. We can't get them in a straight way.
For me personally it's like 3.5 of my monthly salary.
