Why do europeans think this looks bad or dystopic? It looks kino to me

It really doesn't. Also, you posted an edit with the saturation cranked all the way up.

europeans need to nitpick because america demolishes them financially, innovatively and even ideologically

Holy shit its a truck stop in a rural area. Too much discussion has been had about it on the internet. A truck stop having a bunch of fast food restaurants and gas stations makes sense.

Bigger problem is arterial roads in cities with strip malls and drive thrus.

I'm all for walkable cities, but I don't think highway exits with an economy dedicated to long distance drivers need to be walkable.

because the idea there is a some giant patch of land dedicated exclusively to selling goyslop is alien to us. At most we have highway stops to refuel and get goyfood. The idea that every tiny town has a dedicated plot of land where there’s nothing but commercial buildings is surreal to us. Everything is mixed-use here.

I think it looks awful to me. The suburbs in the woods behind it are probably quite nice, but this shopping road is ugly as sin.

What is it like living in a place with an HOA? Yesterday I saw some news about an american youtuber who received death threats and gore photos from his HOA after he complained about airbnb in his neighborhood.

An HOA is as good as the homeowners participating in the elections. If its run by petty tyrants, that's because the homeowners voted them in.

Plenty of HOAs just maintain the common infrastructure (streets, water management for single family homes developments, roof, structure, HVAC etc... for condos) and don't interfere much in people's lives.

I would be chill with them if they were not monopolistic in areas where all the jobs are.

At least in that dude's case, from what I understood, sometimes someone can own several homes in a neighborhood, which makes their vote count a lot more when electing a president, so they can basically elect themselves.

Well if you own the majority of homes than yes. Votes are based on homes, not people.
