Yes, you can still exchange Dutch guilder banknotes for euros. The Dutch Central Bank (DNB) will accept most guilder notes until January 1, 2032, reports Rijksoverheid.nl. Guilder coins, such as dimes and Reichsdaalders, can no longer be exchanged at DNB.
How do you exchange guilder notes?
1. Submit a request:
You must submit an application to De Nederlandsche Bank (DNB). This can be done online, by post or by e-mail, DNB reports.
2. Make an appointment (if necessary):
If your application has been approved, you will receive an invitation to make an appointment to hand in your banknotes at DNB in Amsterdam.
3. Send money (if possible):
You can also send your notes by post, up to a maximum of 4,000 guilders, but this is at your own risk, reports MAX Meldpunt.
4. Submit to DNB:
If you want to exchange more than 4,000 guilders, or if you prefer to hand in your money in person, you can make an appointment to do this at DNB in Amsterdam, DNB said.
