I'm grateful to them. I don't mean to complain, just to explain what the interaction was like. It was interesting that their disposition was unsociable and cold, while their actions were objectively kind. I wouldn't call it tsundere, but it's that same sort of ironic juxtaposition.

I don't think that you can lump American Jews together with Israelis. Most of the American jews I've met have been indistinguishable from secular White Americans of a Christian background. The ones I've met, who seemed more Jewish, were charismatic in stereotypically jewy ways; like Dr. Katz, or a Stanley Tucci character. I miss my ex gf's funny dad more than i miss her.

I assume that was true for the wife and son. The husband was completely fluent in English. He may have just been tired. I'm still grateful to them.
