It's called deterrence, all countries nearby tend to have similar armed power, so others don't try anything stupid against them (minus some cases like Canadians, who give their butthole to Americans for free). They also help in case of infernal chaos, floodings, earthquakes, etc.

Nothing really. Its a third world humiliation ritual, nothing more than that. It is the biggest waste of time ever.

At least from my perspective. Dont know about normgroids but if the military war conscritpion is filled with people like me it will collapse within days cause all the MPs will get killed and all the young male population will be having backpack trips away from the war.
