They work for lower wages, much lower for the contracted workers, than an American worker and typically will be fine being overworked so they don’t have to return to their shithole country. If you compare role by role you will see them working for half the pay.
There is also a nepotism issue with Indians, lots of contractors setup just to import as much Indians as possible and try to put them into tech companies. There is a reason Microsoft just announced thousands of layoffs while also applying for thousands of H1bs.
H1bs are basically the Hispanics of before but for the middle to upper class. Hispanics decimated the economy for lower class workers here because similarly will work for less and overwork to not be sent back to their shithole. Now the middle to upper class will cry they took our jobs as they mocked the lower class before.
Easily solution is to heavily fine any company found to import h1bs while laying off workers. Heavily investigate the h1b contractors. Invalidate 90% of the h1bs and deport them. Raise the minimum h1b/O1 visa wage to $250k with higher cost of living areas like NYC have a higher minimum like $400k, to greatly deter companies from using it for cheap labor
