Whats the difference between the baltics and the balkans? I just realised they are different words

Balkan means mountain in Turkic. The Balkans are characterized by Middle Eastern genetic and cultural influence. The Baltics are in northern Europe, by the Baltic sea, and specifically the middle portion of the eastern Baltic coast is called the Baltics, where the interrelated Lithuanians, Latvians and Estonians live.
