I work 50 hours a week and I earn 3000 deutschmarks before tax
After tax, I bring home 1500. My rent is 800 for a small single room studio below a family on nafris and above another family if drug-dealing nafris. I can't own a car, I can't afford good food, I can't go out, I haven't vacationed in nearly a decade. Whatever is left goes to utilities (80/month on electricity, 50 on telephone and internet, water etc), insurance and debt payments. I buy half rotten food to save money and I still struggle to put more than 100 a month.
I have to work extra jobs if I want to put anything away for retirement because the pension given by the state is unlivable. I will have to work for another 40 years or until I die.

I have no concrete ways of proving I work overtime because it's mostly stuff I have to do alone on my computer remotely after I come home. I could sue if I did.
I would probably get fired if I worked any less. I'm already on thin ice because they always expect more than what I do.
Finding a job is a nightmare. I had to send over 800 applications to find this job and did maybe 50 interview. There is no work, unemployment is going up again and my current job search has given me nothing.

5 years ago, before my parents bought me an apartment, my salary was ~$600 and I payed $300 in rent and I also had to pay for my uni (was cheap, $80 per month). I also had a dating life, went out with friends (wtf I still had friends...) but I didn't have a car.

Before my friends moved in their gfs, I was living in a house with four other guys and paying $1300 in rent. That was considered godlike and unbelievably cheap to everybody we told.

The fact that I'm paying $2255 for a 1bd in a great location where I don't need a car is actually a great deal. But yeah, I need a gf (not for seggs, for money).
