Travel's cheaper. Work visas go away if you get citizenship (and they are a serious pain in the ass for Canadians unless you have "Extraordinary ability in the arts, athletics, or the motion picture/television industry" worthy of an O2 visa). Depending on the state of residence and states most often performed in, taxes can be as much as 50% lower. It's nearly impossible to even make a living as an artist in Canada alone - most stops on a tour would be at least 8h apart if you're not making a one-way trip coast to coast, basically mean you're burning everyone out, sleeping in shifts while driving, or while the bus is in motion if you can afford to rent a tour bus. Plus in certain seasons you have to contend with snow, floods, or moose on the ONE FUCKING ROAD.
We break in the US, Europe, or Japan. Almost never here. We have to import ourselves back home.
