The plastic bottle cap is unironically useful when driving, because you can just screw it off with one hand, drink the liquid and screw it back on easily. With the old bottle you would have to juggle with the cap. And even in regular use it's no biggie, just hold the bottle sideways.

The EU is not some supernatural entity it is just being driven by the dominant countries that follow a left/green ideology.
