at some point flying has to be worth it if you're driving for like 18+ hours, it might be more expensive but way less hassle and no taxing long drives.

the longest drive I've ever done was 5-6 hours and it was terrible, i regularly drive 3 hours or so to a cottage during the summer but at some point you just get restless and sick of driving.

They actually do. Almost lots of major cities has an Amtrak station. It's just no one wants to ride in them because they're slow and expensive. They do however have a thing called Greyhound buses which can pretty much take you from one city to another almost everywhere in the country, but most Americans prefer to just drive.

It depends on how I'm feeling. Sometimes I don't mind the long drive, my wife and I like taking road trips and we like stopping along the way to see stuff, try out different restaurants, etc. But sometimes if it's too much of a hassle I'll just pony up money for the plane tickets and get it out the way.
