LA is actually pretty cool in how it's spread out. I know it takes like 3 hours to cross it but it's nice, you live one city and get to experience different landscapes.

this is the countryside outside beijing with random little towns surrounded by farmlans and big developments intruding which is just like in the valley of mexico
cairo just doesn't have farmland around it because it has consumed all the farmland near it besides the northern and southern ends where the nile valley continues

one thing usa did well is having a big park in the middle of the city. having these but wilder, less built up and better guarded would be nice for large cities and you could go into actual nature as a weekend vacation you have to travel to
For me, it's the green sprawl. >low-rise, medium density apartment blocks (4-8 apartments each) >60-70% green space coverage, as many trees as you can fit >small patches of entirely forested areas as parks >extensive network of feeder bus lines and arterial rail to city center/commercial hub >"mini malls" in walking distance with essential shops, schools not farther than a very short bus trip
