My newest awards, a second set of Orders of Merit of the Fatherland in Gold and Silver (East Germany).

Both were awarded to the same person so extra special in that way. The Gold is also a different design so will go to complete that design set separately.

Do you have any collections like such as in your country? Could be militaria, miniatures, memorabilia, games, toys or other hobbies.

And the Silver.

I think these are some of the better looking Eastern bloc awards. Beauty in simplicity, guys.

The first one? Unironically cool. I was big into COD back in the COD4-MW3 days. I even paid extra for a MW3-branded 360.

Very nice. I myself have a Held der Arbeit that was personally awarded to me by Honecker for an 18 hour masturbation marathon, or what the young people of today would call "gooning". Back then, we had to prove we were better than the West in every possible way.

Do you have any photos? Real gold or gilted?
These Orders of Merit are just gilted. They made them out of solid 22 carat gold originally for the Party big-wigs, but those are $15k in gold content alone plus collector's tax pushes them to like $18k. Too rich for me.
The Hammer and Sickle on my Order of the October Revolution is real gold, about $50 worth of 10 karat kek.

>18 hour masturbation marathon
You joke but I've done this before
The worst is when you don't allow yourself to cum, you're fine for the first 6 hours or so but afterwards your balls start hurting, and after 12 hours it's pure torture. There's also some cases where it doesn't hurt at all from start to finish, but shortly after you stop masturbating your balls hurt so much that you almost pass out

Nice stuff. How much did you pay? I used to collect Soviet military decorations as well and I inherited some rare stuff from ancestors, one of my grandmas was one of the early sky diving instructors of the USSR and she received an extremely rare Soviet badge "master of parachuting of the USSR" in 1946, by the time there were less than 500 people with badges like those and by the time the USSR died only 4000 people received those awards. There's some WW2 stuff as well but it's not as rare or unusual. Does the German order have a number? All Soviet orders were numbered on the backside, so even if you lose all the papers you still could trace the award back to its owner through state archives

Oh, and no, vast bulk of GDR awards don't have any serial numbers.
Some very early awards were stamped/ numbered in the certificate, as with Soviet (and most Warsaw Pact) decorations, but for whatever reason they abandoned it around 1959-60.
They did hallmark the precious metal content in some awards like these VVOs I mentioned>>212514701, but that was it.

Nice award by the way, sad about the damage but for the age and to a woman it's an impressive bit to collect.
Parachuting never really got much better either. GDR Fallschirmjaeger were still practice jumping from An-2s and Il-14s into the 70s.

IL-14 in the 70s was still a good thing. The Germans and anybody else in Warsaw Pact always received hand-me-downs, no reason to expect anything from them. Poor puppets of an already poor superpower. You lose a lot by not speaking the Russian language, a lot of the obscure and high quality info is available only in Russian. Everybody else is treated as a cuck whose sole purpose is to enrich the Eastern grifters who will to you a copy as a genuine item. I don't know that much about German awards, I guess the information regarding them is easier to find because the existing forum, Wehrmacht-awards, is already large enough and a significant share of Germans collecting that shit already speaks English. The amount of scandals I have seen between the Russian coin and militiaria dealers selling high quality forgeries at auctions is crazy. I highly recommend to you to register on this forum https://forums-su.com/viewforum.php?f=225
and use google-translate for topics that interest you, this is the best place to get a reliable information on contemporary copies and the current state of the market. Even something as "cheap" as the medal "To a Partisan of the Patriotic War" of the 1st class for $600 has mountains of copies and those copies are very good. Everything pricier than this can get very crazy copies quality wise.

Mostly collecting East German stuff myself. German was my elective language in high school so it's got a special interest to me. But you're right, East German stuff is far more documented in English/easily found German sources, and sellers are more open to Western markets. All the other Eastern bloc stuff is locked behind local websites that don't even offer international shipping, and the stuff that does ship internationally is usually inflated cause they know they've got a monopoly on Western $.
There's good money to be made for someone to set up an actual, not-totally-extortionate pipeline East to West for these things imo.
Appreciate the info and sites though. I'm always super cautious and do deep research on my purchases for these reasons.

Sending Soviet military decorations out of Russia is punishable by rape by the biggest Chechen bull in the region. Legally speaking, both Ukraine and Russia forbid the sale of state decorations but Russia is unique in this case because it considers itself as a successor state of the USSR, thus in Russia everything awarded by the USSR has the same legal status as a generic contemporary double headed eagle for bravery given to you personally by Putin. Shipping stuff out of Russia is difficult and only Ukraine remains as a semi-free and large market of Soviet militaria.

(That uniform, btw, is ironically 95.8% likelihood a "put-together" despite what I just said kek. It was most likely combined by someone using genuine GDR-era items. It was an exceedingly small unit though the tunic and patches and were very common. Still, it conforms to regulations and there's no other way to get such a unit uniform so I'm happy.)

Still? I know from oldheads in the groups I'm in that in the 90s-00s a bunch of at least lower awards were going for practically pennies on street corners. Surely there's still massive stockpiles of totally ownerless medals floating around that could be quietly flown out.

Not comfortably doxxing myself for it, sorry. What is it though? MR, SR? If it works I've seen them go for 20-50 euro.
VEB Robotron/VEB Mikroelektronic which did all the electronics stuff like that were some of the few businesses to technically "survive" (bought and taken over by western companies) and end up as Silicon Saxony which I find really cool.
