In the case of these african societies, it was but recently that they adquired independence and stopped being a mineral extraction colony. Their nation-statehood its but in its infancy. It makes sense for them to close the valve of natural resources in order to direct them to develop internally and create their own nation-state and its own bourgeoisie.
