British people settled the Falklands before Spanish people did and before Argentina existed. Britain has owned the Falklands islands longer than anyone else combined. What u don't understand is that the military coup was losing power, so they thought it would be a good excuse to take over the islands as a way to show their power again. Thanks to them losing, the coup ended and democracy came back, so it wasnt so bad in the long run.
