I don't like it. Reminds me of those claustrophobic streets in Central London that trap heat and always seem to have roadworks going on.

Russia seems to lean a little too far in the other direction. I've never been there, but in pictures I've seen, some of the roads look enormously wide, like you could fit a dozen tanks side-by-side in them.
But that's still better than the thin, crooked streets we have. One of the things that makes summer so awful here in London is that all these narrow streets trap hot, humid air that takes ages to dissipate, even after the temperature has fallen.

Well, at least your buildings aren't designed to trap good heat.
When we get temperatures above 30C for more than a week, the buildings start to accumulate the heat. So even if on the next day is 14C and raining, it still feels hot inside.

what has happened in 10 years in my city:
ugly globohomo luxury lofts built downtown
a handful of painted bike lanes were painted
the downtown main street had traffic calming measures approved, this really pissed people off.

Bike lanes are fuckin excellent, more fit people to fuck, every one on a bike is 1 less car jamming up traffic, & the space is useful as a small loading/buffer space when no one’s riding in it.

But those “luxury lofts” are bullshit, there’s no “luxury” in living a fucking loft apartment built in a shitty industrial building.

The bike lanes look like this, they basically might as well not be there. Most of the city doesn't have them either, so your options are to ride on the sidewalk or in the street (fine in residential areas, but like 80% of the businesses are on stroads) People also park in them all the time.

Didn't they get a 100 billion from the EU during this time to fund such development projects? Anywhere could do this kind of shit if it was paid to them (and the money doesn't get corrupted away).
