Breaking news. The earth is TRAPPED and BETRAYED in a VOID in SPACE!
What is the benefit of leaving this interstellar neetcave?

>Astronomers have long battled with this issue. When they measure the expansion rate by looking at the distant Universe, it’s markedly slower than the value they get from examining our local corner of the cosmos.
>“A potential solution to this inconsistency is that our Galaxy is close to the centre of a large, local void,” said Dr Indranil Banik, from the University of Portsmouth, who shared the findings at the National Astronomy Meeting in Durham.
>This is because the regions around the void would have a higher density of galaxies, and their gravitational pull would slowly coax galaxies inside the void to the edge, slowly emptying the region over time.
>“As the void is emptying out, the velocity of objects away from us would be larger than if the void were not there,” said Banik. In other words, it would make the local Universe appear to be expanding faster than it actually is.
>To be responsible for the Hubble Tension, the void would need to be around one billion light-years wide, with a galaxy density 20 per cent lower than the Universe’s average.
>>212651026 (OP)who cares?
interstellar travel is almost impossible anyway. even if we got a ship to 20% light speed we have literally 0 tech or materials which would protect people from long term radiation exposure and collisions with even microscopic space debris. it’s infeasible. we will colonize the solar system and MAYBE proxima b at best.
>>212651026 (OP)What the double-u tea eff?!
>>212651026 (OP)oh wow this changes everything
>>212651394first, i clarified that that is the best case scenario for human space travel.
second, i am talking about this over the entire existence of humanity. i think that by time humanity goes extinct, in the best case scenario, we will have only colonized the solar system and MAYBE proxima b.
Scientists don't know shit they just think they do
>>212651324Not to mention that probably 99.999999999% of planets are just empty rocks with nothing interesting on them.
>>212651548yeah. that’s my biggest issue with even interstellar travel to our closest stellar neighbors. proxima b is almost surely uninhabitable, even if it has earth-like temperatures, liquid water, and good pressure (it doesnt, but even if) it is almost surely being blasted with gamma rays every month from its star being a very volatile red dwarf.
the same goes for the rest of our neighborhood, there is not a single sun-like star we know of within 10 lightyears of earth that a) has terrestrial planets in the habitable zone and/or b) is not seriously hindered by being a binary star system/orbiting a red dwarf/likely fucked up orbit/good chemical conditions/literally anything else. people have to realize that even our solar system has three planets in the habitable zone and two of them would vaporize even the hardiest earth life within a few hours
>>212651026 (OP)LET ME OUT
LET ME OUT RIGHT NOOOOOOOOOOOW
>>212651324>>212651463>>212651548This is an effect of the modern man who's a self-proclaimed atheist rejecting not just any form of divine power but metaphysics too.
It's a dead-end outlook that needs constant affirmation and caressing by the latest scientific study and retarded far-reaching theory.
They need to build a mythology in which man and the universe are otherworldy and mystifying enough on their own.
They love to larp as 'cold realists' but they need constant soothing with a cosmology that includes alien civilizations, dyson spheres and the hope of intergalactic travel.
>>212651701I don't know where you are getting this but it's all made up
There is a very probably planet 4.5 years away.
I honestly don't know where you got any of this. It appears 1 out is very 100 Stars has a earth like that could hold life.
There's around ,400 known within 10 ly.
>>212651945please, tell me which stars and planets you’re referring to then?
i don’t know of a single earth-like planet in the habitable zone of a sun-like star in our stellar neighborhood, so please enlighten me
>>212651324Whipple shields and heavy metal radiation shielding exist, but both are expensive to produce and bring into orbit. Colonization of space will be a very expensive endeavor, but it can be done.
>>212652064Proxima Centauri B is neither a sunlike star, nor is it likely habitable. see my response in the first paragraph here
>>212651701red dwarves are almost always going to be very volatile and nearly impossible for hosting life ling term, both because of their very small habitable zones and often violent energy output. any life that arises there will need to be somehow resistant to a near-constant barrage of gamma, alpha, and beta radiation.
>>212652150even with our best radiation-resistant materials, there is always a small beut noticeable amount of radiation which will make it through. add that to LIFETIMES of humans staying in such conditions and the likelihood of genetic disturbance is almost guaranteed.
>>212652273In order for it to have habitable conditions...it doesn't require an earth like star... It's a red dwarf. From what we know so far it appears it could be..
Don't go all no true Scotsman.
>>212652366reread my post. red dwarves are only bad because of their often violent flares. the likelihood of any life there being exposed to extinction-level radiation of a regular basis is almost guaranteed. not only that, but the proximity a planet needs to be to be in the habitable zone is a major concern. the planet would be prone not only to being hostile to life, but also could be tidally locked due to how close it is, and is likely to not have an atmosphere give how much solar wind it gets from the flares.
Dude if you are trying to use AI to learn about exo planets and stars... You should know it hallucinates a lot on those subjects. You actually have to go to the real source not Wikipedia either. It makes up shit. It's AI. It isn't correct. Ai said Hitlers idea was the best way to fix floods do let's kill all Jews the other day.

>>212652488Don't bring this AI shit here. You are reading off AI or wiki. Why is your generation like this. This is incredibly frustrating.
>>212652488what the fuck are you talking about you schizo, i’m an amateur astronomer, none of this is based off AI. go read a book yourself before accusing others of being as retarded as you.
everything i am saying is observable and has been noted in numerous scientific journals. sorry your fantasy of living in Star Trek isn’t as likely as you hoped you schizophrenic faggot

>>212651324We have really stupid ideas about colonising the solar system because we happened to have a nearby moon we could eventually reach with primitive rockets, and even that place is completely unsuited for a colony. Our own planet is mostly ocean that we can't live in or even drink from, and much of the dry land in present day is too arid to support large settlements. The environmental conditions humans evolved to live in are so narrow and specific that just talking about space travel is a joke.

>>212654202I think Einstein only saw part of the picture and C is not truly set. It belies the nature of the universe and entropy
>>212654375holy shit you are stupid
you can literally measure C at home.
the only thing that can upset the constant of C is gravity
I mean the universe could not exist is causation was always set at the same speed. It would be an infinitely small point with no rotation. Causation had to break down on speeds or no universe as it is now. Everything would be uniform compacted without spin or different angular momentums.
