China has no internal market, so all their exchange has no value backing. Because they're ideologically deranged and unable to leave peoples' saving alone, they evaporate all wealth in their country. Only way they can build value is to peg it on the West, so it goes
>we can sell x for y to USA
>so please believe our funny money is worth the y, because we can convert to dollars, okay?
They were on their way out of that muck thanks to Dengian reform, but then Shi Jinping happened. A dirty fucking Stalinist.

Nope, that would be Japan. During the Meiji Restoration Japan had the fastest industrial revolution in history (only 40 years to transition from a feudal society to modern, industrial superpower). Japan would go on to be the first Asian country to beat a European superpower (Russo-Japanese War) and would single handedly liberate Asia from western colonialism during the Greater East Asia War. Japan proved non-western countries could reach the level of western superpowers

China is too oppressive for "good times", the West exploded in power during great times of liberation that were still dominated by a conservative culture, think of the period from the Renaissance to the early 20th century, you need a kind of hypocritical society, where sex is taboo but you can still publish Marquis de Sade, and drug use is taboo but they still sell cocaine in every pharmacy, this is what built the West, since the inception of liberal democracies and over-regulated and actually oppressive paternalist states our prowess and momentum dwindled down, expectedly.

>the rest working insane hours for a roughly Mexican standard of living
>the most fucked up demographics in the world - with 100s of millions pre-retirement, without having a proper pension system in place

All of this is is according to their very own data, not Fox News or something, so don’t even try to debate this, you’re debating the CCP.

Any of these issues alone would’ve made it a pretty fucked up country, together it’s just a maelstrom of misery.

They got the best PR in the world showing of their A-tier cities, but that’s it.
