I can accept the slander from people with a cuisine that has international presence, especially if they're not a powerhouse in other ways, like the thais. that kitchen gets around on merit alone

other than that, I feel like the geopolitical and geographical context is what allows a cuisine to flourish. I have nothing against the africans but I feel like they're kind of in same position as scandis when it comes to eating stuff that doesn't gain much popularity (as a cohesive kitchen) outside a specific cultural context and the reasons seem to be more complex than simply "these people have bad taste"

Most spices are toxic, and your body gets rid of them through your sweat. Spices are also the reason brownies stink so much. Indians being one of the chief examples.
They drop tablespoons of random spices in their food. Because they use them so much, they're always stinking, no matter how often or how recently they've showered.

High quality food doesn't need that many spices to taste good or be fulfilling. You can use them sparingly to enhance the food, not to cover its deficiencies.
