For me i see Christianity as beneficial for society whether you want to try to convince everyone to believe it or not. The teachings and expectations of it lead to a better society and not the one ruled by the seven deadly sins seen today. It also has a positive effect of bringing people in the community together in church and other parts of life to build something greater than its parts. In places like Europe it also means a rejection of muslims and other foreigner and a more protective community rather than the atheist globohomo

But if a claim is extraordinary when compared to observable reality it's rational to want evidence to justify it. An epistemic statement like "there are true things" is easy to accept on a pragmatic basis without being observed. It isn't really an extraordinary claim and aligns with our everyday reality easily. Christians claiming a god-person rose from the dead 2000 years ago is much less convincing in comparison.

Young people and old people often enjoy them, but only young people often believe in them. Some of the older kids mock the young kids though and tell them Santa isn't real so they can rub in the fact that they were right and the younger kids were also stupid to believe.
