I support Ukraine because Russia shot down our airliner. I played my part in poohpooing Russian propaganda during the early days of the war on /k/ and calming down Ukies on reddit. I was one of the earliest to shit on Russian (Indian) "map painting" propaganda during the first weeks of the war. I was also probably the first to start the "Muscovite" and "Duchy of Moscow" put downs of Russia. On /k/, I was one of the earliest proponents of cheap consumer drones changing warfare forever and got shat on for it until a year later when kino drone webms started trickling in. Now, even the US Army issues manuals to tank crews on how to deal with drones while their soldiers train with drones dropping live grenades.

I was thinking about joining the war too. I have nothing to do here, and they’re paying 4k just to be on the front line. I don’t think I’ll enlist, but if I did, I’d choose the Ukrainian International Legion because it’s trustworthy and it won’t mess up your passport. Do you really think you can get anywhere in Europe, Japan or the US after joining the Russian army or the Wagner Group? Also, the Wagner Group has no regard for their soldiers. If you enlist in the Ukrainian army, at least you have a chance to avoid ending up in an assault unit

Because our army isn’t really professional like yours, it’s mostly made up of 18 yo conscripts. If you are not a conscript, you can only join as an NCO or an officer, and there are a lot of requirements for that. I can’t even join because I have myopia. Also, it’s mostly about the money. The Ukrainians pay 4k if you fight for them, which is about 20k brl. That’s a lot of money here. In just one year of fighting there, you could change your life

This war should never have started to begin with and fighting for a random side is the worst thing that you can do.

Foreign mercenaries are treated as cannon fodder by both sides and your chances of survival would be slim.
