They became the cheap but good enough alternative to Japanese electronics/cars, just like Japanese were to the western ones in the mid seventies. Now they have to become what Japanese were in the late 80's-mid 90's. A quality benchmark.

Someone should do serious research on why every business China/Korea touch ends up unprofitable crap, while Taiwan successfully turned TSMC into a corporate behemoth through B2B. Taiwan is the winner.
