Bro, I totally get your concerns, I share it myself. Though well, it's obvious that countries primarily care about their own interests rather than someone else's. Finland also kind of "betrayed" the rest of eastern Europe because when it got that Stalin's offer to become a neutral country it gladly accepted that and stopped giving a shit about the rest of the region, leaving even your closest Estonian cousins under the Soviet boot with no remorse or compunction. Obviously every other country will also do what is the best for it, even if it will be at expense of Finland.

It's not like anyone here really wants to have anything to do with Russia. It's the worst possible outcome we would rather avoid. But well, we don't know what the future might bring. We don't know if NATO will always exist and in what shape and form. We don't know if America will also care about this region forever. Russia won't just disappear overnight, it will be always where it is and we will have to conduct out politics in the way to save at least the bits of our autonomy.

It's kind of interesting to see people pointing out soulless architecture like this in countries that, were it not for an uninvited and pervasive Russian rule, would not tolerate such designs.
As it stands, even if these countries (not just Slovakia, but all the commieblock infested cunts) wanted better looking cities, it's just not worth destroying these, because despite their brutalist and ugly looks, they stand firm, and the only reason to get rid of them would be aesthetic, to the detriment of convenience and economy.
What I mean to say is, people who wish to judge countries by their architectural aesthetics, should ignore ALL the commieblocks built before the 2000s and instead look at their rural/original buildings.
Do they exist? Yes. Are they representative of the identity of a country? No.
That's like judging the personality of someone by how their benign tumor looks.
