Thinking of applying for a waiter job. Can you even make a career out of that? I don't see many old farts doing it for a living. I just want to coast, man (useless degree haver btw)

No, but here in the U.S with tips it's a decent job.
I used to work as a line cook and the waiters made insane amounts of money

Maybe it's because of the tip system, but it's not that uncommon for people to keep waiting tables for 10+ years here. But I assume they have to be good or else they're replaced by someone younger and prettier (I wouldn't know, I work as a dishwasher and not a waiter).
I would agree it's not really a career, though. There's no progression.

When I was younger I've had quite a bunch of jobs (waiter, bakery employee, random shop employee, etc). I went in, gave my resume and it worked. It was shitty jobs but at least it's was easy to land. Wtf happened?

Huge gap between shitty jobs and good jobs today. It’s either these revolving door minwage jobs or senior positions that require a decade of experience. Boomers keep rotating between the latter jobs through connections, while zoomers fresh out of college are all forced to do these shitty ones. So long story short, there are 100 applications for each one of these. HR Karens and boomer bosses always pick women no matter how incompetent they are.

If you lived in America you could make $150k as a waiter only working 5 hours a day. You have to make sure you complain about non-tippers on social media though.
