Being multilingual is very interesting to me from a neurological perspective. I believe we subconsciously learn to execute several chain of thought pipelines when we learn languages, and we more or less have to abide by them to be able to form sentences. When I am thinking in Turkish for instance it's insanely difficult for me to execute a task where I am mostly dealing with English content, i.e., writing code or summarizing a book. My mental circuits do not fully translate between these two languages because they were formed independently. The opposite is also true. Acting on Turkish content while I am thinking in English is a monumental effort for me.
Despite all that, having all these mental tools that were formed during language acquisition lets you think about things from multiple angles, mapping from conceptual space to multiple linguistic spaces, you can think, describe and act upon problems in multiple ways that wouldn't be possible for a monolingual person.
We form our thoughts and learn to think about concepts through language, after all. So I strongly advise our monolingual friends to learn some other language, be it French or Spanish or any other language you might find interesting.
