We just had a massive judicial scandal here a couple of years ago. Two guys were found guilty of murder and rape of two little kids in the 2000s, the case was considered rock solid, 2000s-DNA evidence showed that there were two people at the scene and one of the guys admitted they did it while the other denied it. Fast forward 21 years, turns out 2000s DNA methodology was extremely flawed and unreliable, police had additionally lied to cover up their fumbling of mobile cell phone data evidence because some technician was afraid to get fired and basically the guy who admitted to it had lied all along to get a plea deal with a lower sentence when in reality he alone had committed the crime.

Keep in mind, in the 2000s the evidence against the guy were considered literally rock solid, it wasn’t a doubt in anyone’s mind that they had done it due to the DNA evidence.

I will never trust the government to be competent enough to guarantee that some guy is 110% guilty of something.

Protip: Justice isn't primarily meant to be penal OR rehabilitative, it's meant to prevent further crime through both removing criminals one way or another and making prospective criminals understand what will happen to them.
