Whenever you tell a normie that Japan is a much better place than Europe, they always reply with something like:
>umm actually Japan is le heckin' dystopia with high suicide rates, no babies being born, kids studying 20 hours a day, salarymen dropping dead at their desks, etc

But none of that is really true.

Japanese suicide rates are comparable to Europe
Japanese TFR is similar to Spain, Italy, Greece, Poland..
Japanese kids study 9 to 4, and they get to relax in clubs after school. Personally, I remember doing 8 to 6 plus homework.
Japanese workers do stay late, but unless there's a deadline, most of that time is just sitting around. And nowadays, even this appearance culture is disappearing.

So where do these stereotypes come from?

I realized that most of these stereotypes donโ€™t come from Japan at all. They come from Korea.

High suicide rates? Korea
Lowest fertility in the world? Korea
Obsession with academics? 20 hours studying? Korea
Toxic work culture? Korea

Japan ends up getting blamed for issues that actually come from Korea, just because theyโ€™re both East Asian countries.

>High suicide rates? Korea
Boomers are tanking the stats. Considering zoomers except for boomers, the rates is not that extreme
>Lowest fertility in the world? Korea
That's a good thing. AI and automation is coming.
>Obsession with academics? 20 hours studying? Korea
Only for some part of Gangnam, Mockdong (Seoul), Suseong gu, (Daegu). The average students are just playing game. And the obsession with academics has peaked a decade ago. It's getting simmer down.
>Toxic work culture? Korea
It's getting better. I worked for a company as a developer. I worked 4 days and a half in a week with hybrid office rules. And zoomers don't give a shit about the working culture.

the people who keep saying that europe is better than japan are genuinely some of the most brainwashed and illiterate people that i've ever seen
to think that a place that's getting worse each month with rapes, ghettoes, stabbings, grenade attacks, gang warfare and a generally downward spiral into developing nation status is somehow better than a place where poor areas in the socioeconomic sense do not meaningfully exist is one of the greatest copes that the human mind can possibly conceive

Its bad. The Japanese shills here run damage control like this thread to deflect their horrible reality at home onto others.

There has been wage stagnation for decades in japan, cost of living is rising too fast (they can't even afford freaking rice anymore), and their economy is tanking with each passing year making it even more impossible for their banks and government to fix the issues.

The saying that "Japan has been living in the year 2000 since 1980" exists for a reason. They are a failed country now and its hurting their people.

In Korea, the number 1 demographic who commits suicide are the elderly who grew up poor from the impacts of living during and after the impacts of two wars.

Meanwhile, in Japan, the youth are killing themselves at record levels. When you look at the miserable prospects for their future it makes sense. They have NOTHING to look forward to since their economy is dead and there is nothing the government can do to fix it.

How will this impact Japan's society in the long run?
