A couple years ago literally any criticism of immigration policy would get people blacklisted from appearing on any media channel, they would be ridiculed and condemned and have things like bank accounts closed or banned from certain business, and sometimes they'd even go to jail. As always I awoke this morning at 5am to the melodious chants and wails of the morning prayer booming out from the local mosque. Love it. No need for an alarm clock anymore and I wake up feeling enriched and energized every day. I then did what I always do first thing and checked Reddit. I was aghast to see the news about the far-right rioting in Epping for absolutely no reason at all. I began to shake uncontrollably, reminded of the events in Southport last Summer and how close we'd come to total societal collapse.

I then checked Bluesky. My mate's sister's boyfriend's cousin's cat's account was reporting rumours of further far-right protests in every city, town and village in the UK today. I gasped so hard I almost inhaled my N95. I hastily put up a post on Facebook, declaring that I was staging a counter-protest against the far-right, with a picture of me looking defiant and smug in my kitchen with my "refugees welcome" banner and mass produced placard handy. A whole minute passed and not one far-right thug turned up. Success. I'd defeated fascism, and all before I'd had my morning shit.

I decided to celebrate by getting my hair cut. I couldn't decide which out of the six Turkish barbers on my street to go to so I ended up going to all of them. My hair's well fucked now and I think I have ringworm but it was worth it to support my local businesses. I even stopped off in the American candy shop and bought myself a load of sweets. I'm sat here scoffing the lot whilst chortling at the far-right bigots I owned.
