Argentina had a reasonably competent political leadership from 1860 to around 1930. They brought millions of European immigrants (the most out of any Latin American country) and invested heavily in public education. On top of this Argentina has some of the most fertile land in the world and the modelo agroexportador made the country obscenely wealthy in that period. Mexico never had advantages like these.

Mexico is more developed, industrially speaking that Argentina. You only need to see exports. Argentina mainly exports agricultural products.

Human development wise. Mexico has a larger population, meaning, a greater reserve army of labour. It goes without saying that, the greater the reserve army of labour, the worse the living standards for the working class.

In general terms, both countries are still underveloped, are part of the periphery of world capitalism.

Chauvinistic sentiments, both coming from these nationalities or promoted by outsiders, are unfounded since none of these countries have ever damaged or hurt each other.
