Russia tried that in the early 1990s and what they got was total economic and social collapse in the country. It wasn't until the early 2000s that inflation, unemployment, industrial production, poverty and crime were brought back under control

Why do thirdies think it's the west's duty to immediately accept them into any organization the second some politician from their country mentions they would maybe want to join? It may work like that for BRICS or other meme groups but not for NATO or EU. I noticed the same from Ukrainians, they unironically thought they could apply and become a member the day after.

Neah. The EU gives you a list of the most basic stuff and you just need to comply (that's how my fucking country and Bulgaria managed to join). Turkey just can't stop jailing reporters and doing other authoritarian shit. Turkey recently filed a suit against Spotify because it allows people to name their custom playlists and people named some playlists "fuck Erdogan" or "Turkey's Frist Lady's Playlist" with a picture of Erdogan.
Russia also couldn't get rid of its old habits of stirring shit with its neighbours and/or invading them. Why do you think all of the ex-Warsaw pact countries rushed to join nato after 89?

This was never the case.
Russia could never be part of the west because Russia is too big.
If it were allowed to develop economically, it would pose too big a threat for western powers.
That's basic geopolitics.

russians HATE equal partnerships. They'd love every alliance to like CSTO where they bully allies and can instantly go back on any promise whenever it benefits them like what they did with Armenia.
When NATO asked them to be equal allies they instantly chimped out and asked for super special benefits because apparently treating allies like equals is le cucked o algo

"planning on doing" and "implementing" said reforms are two different things.
Turkey basically said "hey we didn't jail or kill any reporter this month so this clearly means we've changed and you should let us in the EU." Show concrete results and not your hopes and dreams. If their candidacy was outright rejected I would have called that getting told to "fuck off" but they're still a candidate and could join if they made the necessary changes but they don't want to. They want to join as is without doing the necessary work.

>"We don't consider it necessary to make any concessions in terms of our sovereignty and we are capable of solving all the threats in an independent way. What we are ready for is to create some temporary coalitions, but at the moment we are not happy about many things happening in NATO," Mr Rogozin said, adding that this was a reason why membership was out of the question at this point.

Correction: French, British and German liberals in the 2010s had no problem letting Muslims in (individually, and not as part of a deal or membership). Turkey would never become a part of the EU because outside of those small interest groups, it's unpopular across the EU.

Yes that's it. If they are there illegally, then they weren't let in. Turkey's EU accession was a legal bid to join which was in all practicalities rejected. Now if we were Christians then the history would have looked much different.

It's less about you being muslim (Albania will join and Kosovo/Bosnia might eventually), and the 85 million population, that's equal to Germany, nobody want's that much new MEPs. Big EU players will have a new chuddy insider rival, small cunts will see their small influence grow even smaller.

Well yes because the alternative was someone who was a sworn communist who believed the USSR failed because of Gorbachev's failings and lack of faith in the party iirc. Yeltsin was never truly hated btw. Look at how Putin acted towards his death vs Gorbachev, state funeral with full honors vs zero acknowledgement he died.
