>>212933518you basically just described western tank doctrine lol. yes, tanks mostly act as QRF that react to enemy pressure and exploit gaps that open up in the enemy's defence. what we're seeing in ukraine isn't proper use of armor. especially not by the russians (granted, ukraine as a post soviet country also doesn't use them exactly as it should, but they're still doing much better, perhaps in part because they have less of them). the russians are stuck with the soviet doctrine's armor spearhead idea. they use their tanks like they're cavalry, charging at enemy positions without infantry support.
