There's nothing wrong with having big windows, but you should make it look nice and make it fit with the overall design of the house. Putting a big ugly square on a wall like that, without any attempt at symmetry or conforming with basic design principles to create harmony, is not visually appealing at all. It looks amateurish, and cheap. He could've made it look good, but he chose not to. This is not unique to his cabin. I've often seen this among North Americans building new cabins, cheaply. You don't have to make it luxurious, but you should give some thought to how it looks. Because there's no reason not to.
