I think most people who aren’t ultra orthodox owned some kind of pet.

Besides dogs and cats, what about more exotic pets like Lizards? I bet they would thrive in that climate fairly easily. What about fish?

Nice. Fish are so under rated but I understand why many won't get them because they take a lot of work (especially salt water) to keep maintained. They are so nice to observe tho.
