Where is the beginner friendly Italian comprehensible input content? Ideally with a northeastern accent, I don't want to pick up terroni pronunciation.
I'd pay so much for someone to make Dreaming Spanish but with Italian.

funny you mention that, if you master Spanish, Italian is another Portuguese.

I should have no problem learning Italian, but I have no interest. I'm saving either French or Portuguese for last. or both.
I'd be another Spanish speaker who dabbles in Portuguese because its too easy. Portuguese Italian and French are meme languages and you get a bad reputation as a Latino for studying that.

It's the same for spanish in italy. If you are bad at everything in school the teachers will tell you to learn spanish. When you hear the words "you should learn spanish" you know it's over.

there is a world of telenovelas out there for immersion. you don't have to watch them all, personally I think they're mostly filler, and the Spanish is slightly off, as in novela Spanish has 1 or 2 words divorced from reality.

I think you're ready to start watching Televisa. you will never run out of content.
if you want easy Spanish, watch a Turkish soap opera in the Spanish dub.
if you want difficult, watch a soap in Colombian Spanish

I would learn Italian to speak proper Spanish better. But that is the number 1 reason I'm hesitant to learn anything from Europe. starting with French. I don't want to be looked down at.
I think some of my people deserve it, I certainly think in their defense the racism is out of bounds as well.

I still go on YouTube every day and teach myself German and Russian, one is actually useful at fetching me Euros, the other one will make me smarter and get me a wife.

I think I'd face racism if I learned mandarin as well. I would rather welcome you when you come here. enjoy the old world/ disfruta del viejo mundo. I thought about how going to a fancy ancient university would be nice and its just not worth it.
sorry about your Muslim problem. Latin Americans are not Arabs for the most part.

I meant to say in my eyes, Latin Americans who learn easy romance languages are pompous "intellectuals" and people form Argentina who in reality are low IQ monkeys.

both Portuguese and Italian are funny Spanish with Ch noises that don't belong.
I can't really build a strong argument for Spansih as a language for smart normal people who are sane but I seem to think so.

That which you call "comprahensible input" are baby steps. Not even babies need those training wheels.
you need balls to learn a language, and if you can't find "comprehensible input" in Italian, its because racism is gatekeeping the country from auslander like Latin Americans and Arabs, and in this case you.

I didn't even have YouTube or Google translate when I taught myself English.

Yeah I have, believe me it's fucking grim. Half of it is podcasts, which obviously provide no context whatsoever to give comprehension, and the rest are some retard talking to a camera with subtitles, which also gives no context clues.

I did add DeepL to Calibre to try reading Italian books but I end up having to translate so much that I'm not even reading the Italian, I'm just reading a shitty English translation.

you grab a notebook and pen, and you take your notes every day that you may review them later.
buy a dictionary, memorize the most important words through willpower until you can sit and immerse on TV and that's it! ancient people thought the TV was more than enough.

I'm looking for an Italian equivalent of the Japanese video I linked, or the Dreaming Spanish program. Beginner level comprehensible input.

Easy Italian has hardcoded subs on their videos, and if you block the subs you see that they don't actually use context clues like pointing, drawing, etc. to make the meaning clear, they just speak slowly. And then they have videos where they do the same thing, just speak more quickly.

I'm just looking for one specific thing, and people keep responding by talking about something that isn't that thing. I don't know why the fuck language learners always do this no matter where I ask, even to the point that one retard in this thread kept talking about a totally different language, but it's fucking annoying.

Beginner level doesn't mean tv shows or music for natives, it means something that is understandable to someone who has never heard a word of the target language.
Comprehensible input doesn't mean translation, grammar books, or flashcards, it means input that is comprehensible - with context clues making up for the lack of language skills.
Italian doesn't mean spanish, it means Italian.

Do you go to a thread on /o/ about pickup trucks and start recommending hatchbacks? Do you go to a thread on /tv/ about Hong Kong action flicks and start recommending Shrek?
If you start saying things that aren't what I'm looking for then why are you offended that I say that's not what I'm looking for?

And if what I'm looking for doesn't exist then just say so instead of shit that would require me to be B1 level already.

Lingq will delete all your content and stats if you stop paying for a month. If you only plan to learn one language you should probably look into the single language lifetime pricing.
But desu I think it doesn't do enough to warrant it.

Or if you're just rich and don't have anything better to spend it on. Lingq is still a way more polished experience than Lute and also probably a lot more effective than the typical normie apps like the green bird one.

nobody uses this general because you only allow methods that don't work. ALG should be the only method in the OP, like dreamingspanish and cijapanese

you should do literally nothing other than visual CI for the first 600-800 hours. Period. If you have a problem with that, then you're uneducated or a shill for some eceleb method.

I've heard people online say they know the meaning of the word in kanji because they see how it's used, so they get the meaning but don't have a sound to play in their head. You could theoretically do that for the entire language, I guess.
I wouldn't know firsthand.
>>213002416
Well I guess you could do RTK or something. But even one-kanji words, like 間, can have the same kanji. Sometimes it's pronounced as あいだ, other times it's ま. You'd have to be able to tell if it's being used as a noun or an adverb for the correct meaning and you could get them mixed up in your head.

i've noticed that norks pronounce words differently in a systematic way. e.g. sorks say "yori" for cooking while the norks pronounce it "ryori". sorks say "yook" for 6 while the norks pronounce it "ryook". they often at the r/l consonant to the beginning of hanja characters where the sorks have dropped it.

and they have some phrasal differences too.

Korean and Japanese belong to the same language family and the only reason this isn't an established fact is political enimity between the two countries.

In theory I could just learn South Korean and then get input from DPRKs only TV channel which is easy to find a stream from.

But actually his english is surprisingly choppy for a such a prominent journo. Expected way better. I mean Merz speaks way better and he's much older.

Swedish and Norwegian are basically dialects of the same language. I can listen to Norwegian podcasts without straining my brain as long as they're not talking to some old guy in a remote fishing village or something.

If anything, Norwegian grammar is a little bit simpler than Swedish, but it's minor. Swedish is a bit more conservative, though people usually assume the opposite for some reason.

FSI counts hours, too. They just also count classroom time and don't count the time you spend listening to and reading the language.
It's a good measure because you might say "I've been studying for five years, and I still suck!" and it actually turns out you've studied sparsely, 600 hours in total or something.

Once you've actually gotten there and had success you naturally learn what's important is just decent regular practice.
It makes it really easy to spot the guys still at the beginning worried about shit that doesn't matter.
Then some beginner starts preaching about X being absolutely necessary when you and 10 successful people you know have never even heard of it.

Like teenagers trying to teach married adults about relationships.

5-6 years ago I used to come by with random vocab questions like
>Can I use "doce" (sweet in Portuguese) in the sense of "that story was very sweet or cute" or is it just for food
and immediately start having really in depth convos about how it can be used that way, but might be a bit more flirtatious than the English version etc.

I'd try to help with English, people would post what they were practicing, hang out while taking a 15 minute break then go back to grinding another episode of some series.
It's sad that died. That kind of language lounge with randos passing through doesn't really exist elsewhere.

This is like saying English and Turkish are related because they both use terms with Latin roots (e.g. technique - teknik).

I don't want to learn German anymore. But I'm tired of dabbling. It's not even that I don't like the language, because I do, but I'm just not keen on it right now; don't have the passion for it. I guess mainly because I deal with them and Germanophiles online. It's like Japanese ruined by weebs for many Americans
Dutch seems cool but not really useful if I won't emigrate there. Same with Scandinavian languages. When I learn Italian, I want Spanish, and vice versa. I'm afraid of French because it's already filtered me, pronunciation is really important, and I don't really have any plans to go there anytime soon (wages too low for emigration, prices too high for vacations compared to other countries). Japanese seems cool but useless. I don't know and probably won't meet any Japanese people, I won't be going there anytime soon and I'm a bit fed up with Japanese pop culture right now.

only english actually deserves being learned for reasons beyond entertainment and intellectual stimulation
it sounds like you're minmaxing during character creation right now, oh this language perk is fun to use but it can potentially result in 10% lower wages so I should learn this other language instead

I have no idea who Ronzheimer is, but journalism isn't the same any more than it was 15 years ago. If you take someone like Claus Kleber, for example, for comparison, you see that German journalists and their English were better in the past. I wouldn't call that guy in your xitter-post cream of the crop, but I haven't watched German TV in ages.

Aside from that, it's a meme that all Germans can speak English anyway and I have stated and explained such in this general too many times to count.

Pic related (from the book "Speak German!" by Wolf Schneider).
~60 per cent of Germans can't really speak English, 40 per cent might at best speak a bit of English they learnt in school or for business, and about 10 per cent speak it in such a capacity, that you can say "they speak English".
And despite the internet and social media, it probably won't get any better.

>It's not even that I don't like the language, because I do, but I'm just not keen on it right now; don't have the passion for it.

You unlock "passion" once you make enough progress to feel good about what you're doing. This switcharoo shit is the beginner's curse, it only happens to people that overthink at the start and haven't put enough time into the hobby to get any meaningful results. Learn the top 1000 most common words, read one (1) graded reader from start to finish, understand a TL video from start to finish, get through one movie or tv show episode while doing lookups, put 100 hours of effort into your TL, achieve any kind of meaningful milestone and you will feel good about it. And once you feel good about it, you realize you can put in some more work and experience it again.

I was just joking mostly.

>And despite the internet and social media, it probably won't get any better.

I actually think it might get worse with AI, since the incentive will be gone to learn english. A german teen can just have youtube auto-dub his vid into german nowadays or in the very near future at least. Also, you guys dub movies and tv anyway and have a big enough german-ecosystem online that you don't really need the anglo-internet.

Is French that hard to listen to for people who are native speakers of romance languages? I know Spanish, but I'm not a native speaker of it. I know a few French words and, when watching a Netflix dib in French for fun occasionally, recognize a good amount of words that sound like Spanish ones without having studied the language, so it's not as others describe where the sounds whiz past your ears and you can't tell where one word ends and another begins.
This isn't a humblebrag, just genuinely curious if maybe it'd be even easier for an actual native speaker of Spanish or Portuguese or Italian or similar.

Being a dabbler automatically screws up your build, so does hopping to another language - it slows you down so massively that you might as well just give up right there.
Basically the only way to get through a lack of motivation is to double down along with finding new input methods - find the sloppiest slop you can find and just watch that if you can't stand anything else.

Honestly if you aren't at your 3rd / 4th WILLFULLY (not native / when you were young) learned language you can't be switching at all, you just have to double down and learn the shit or you'll never ever learn anything in your life.

second of all, just learning 3 foreign languages to a native level(actually native level via ALG) will take you like 20 years. you Refold faggots have the dumbest fantasies and have no basis in reality.

Reading comprehension in particular benefits greatly from being closely related so it makes me have this idea on the backburner of trying to speedrun romance reading due to my small background french and latin education. This all depends on what you mean by "native level". If you mean "C1 - professionally fluent" where you can comprehend and express yourself on complex topics reliably, probably up to like 5 if you devote an hour plus a day for like 30+ years and you have good language learning aptitude. If you mean "understand it purely by heart including intuitively grasping all new words, slang, cultural and historical nuances that natives just get" then probably 2 or 3 at best like the other guy said.
