Are all Balkan countries corrupt shitholes? I went to travel in Croatia and the service was dog shit yet the prices were obscenely high. Croatians struck me as extremely lazy and incompetent but were still asking for luxury prices on everything. None of my previous travels have I been as disgusted by the locals as here.

yes and croatia is corrupt but as a tourist i dont see how that affects you even slightly because tourist locations on the coast are generally highly maintained and have better infrastructure than the rest of the coast which is a barren lifeless shithole unlike the tour guide would have you believe.

90% of croats live inland in a hungary/slovakia looking place and act and look like slovakian people. obviously this wouldnt be appealing to someone for a summer vacation.

the corruption is about how taxes are managed and where the tax money goes and why is some politicians cousin building the road at 5x price rather than the cheapest and most efficient contractor.

I think some northern towns like Čakovec and Varaždin look much better maintained than most of the coast besides the centers of tourist destinations.
